Introduction to the Region

To help our customers in the Yorkshire and the Humber Region Jobcentre Plus works in partnership with a wide range of organisations from all sectors (Public, Private, Voluntary and Community) in different ways via our Districts.

In the region we deliver a work-focused integrated service to people of working age and a vacancy filling service to employers. Working in partnership allows us to deliver the services that people need. We want to build on existing partnerships and develop new ones to deliver services to our customers.

Some services we deliver are focused to meet the needs of particular people who have experienced disadvantage in the Labour Market (BME, Disabled, Lone Parents, Long Term Unemployed, Offenders).

To meet employer demand for skills we work with the Regional Development Agency (Yorkshire Forward) and the Learning and Skills Council’s to understand and identify what training provision is needed.

Our partnerships with the Probation and Prison Services allow us to address the needs of offenders. In South and West Yorkshire we are also working closely with the Employer Coalitions to help us tailor our services and programmes provision to the needs of employers whilst ensuring the needs of disadvantaged customers are recognised.
