Birmingham and Solihull DistrictAccess to Employment GroupsAudience:Unemployed people in key target communities Background:Within the framework agreed by the Birmingham and Solihull Employment Strategy Group (ESG), Access to Employment Groups (AEGs) are designed to be the local joint working and co-ordination forums, through which Employment Strategy Group members, will seek to develop effective and seamless employment support and progression services which are responsive to the specific needs of unemployed people in key target communities. AEGs are responsible for creating an environment in which unemployed people - particularly those from socially and economically excluded groups - have access to the right employment support at the right time. AEGs have established a strong interface with employer engagement and job capture teams, to ensure that the local community will hear about and have access to all job opportunities in Birmingham and Solihull. Jobcentre Plus takes the lead in co-ordinating the groups. The ESG and AEG membership is drawn from Jobcentre Plus, Birmingham City Council, Learning and Skills Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, other partnership organisations and local community organisations Birmingham and Solihull LinksSolihull Metropolitan Borough Council Birmingham and Solihull Chamber of Commerce and Business Link |
