To fill more than 200 care vacancies, Jobcentre Plus is holding a ‘Careers in Care’ jobsfair on Thursday 29 November between 10.30 am and 3.30 pm at the Leofric Hotel, Broadgate, Coventry.

The jobsfair has been organised in partnership with the Recruitment Network, an alliance of voluntary, community and private organisations providing free help and support to people seeking employment, especially those experiencing disadvantage.

Jobcentre Plus advisers will be available at the jobsfair to talk to people about extra help, including the benefits available when starting work. Staff from the Recruitment Network will also be on hand to offer help with CV preparation, interview techniques and specialist support.

There will be a wide range of jobs on offer, including support assistant, care worker and night support. One of the employers recruiting on the day will be Anchor Trust, a not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people.

Kate Wood from Anchor Trust, said: “Care work can be a very rewarding career. Experience is not essential, more important are desire, understanding and enthusiasm. We support our employees with training such as qualifications in health and social care.”

Lynda Ward of Jobcentre Plus said: “More than two hundred jobs will be available on the day. This is a great opportunity for people looking for care work to meet employers, discuss the jobs on offer and complete application forms. Some companies will be offering immediate interviews. Even if you have never considered this type of work before, come along and find out more. You may just find the career you are looking for!”
