A secure future and a new job, thanks to help from Jobcentre Plus

An unemployed Telford man has gained a secure future and a new job – thanks to help from Jobcentre Plus.

John ‘Bryan’ Jones (50), from Randlay in Telford, has turned his life around. Not only has he found a new job, working as a customer services assistant for food wholesalers Bookers, he also has found a new home after having accommodation problems.

Bryan went to Telford Jobcentre Plus, where he was introduced to New Deal personal adviser Andrew Bennett. Andy advised him to take part in New Deal for 50 plus people, to help improve his confidence and skills and he also set up a work experience placement with Bookers, who eventually gave Bryan a job.  Andy also put Bryan in touch with Kip In Place (KIP), a community project run by the Salvation Army to help homeless people find accommodation.

Bryan Jones commented: “When I met Andy I really wanted to get back into work but my lack of accommodation was holding me back. Andy not only helped me to find the support I needed to find somewhere to live, but also helped me to get back into work. I am really grateful for his help.”

Andy Bennett said: “New Deal 50 plus is not only about getting people into work.  It is also about giving them the support, help and confidence they need to be able to make the most of opportunities. Bryan has really been able to change his life and I want to wish every success for the future.”
