Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Business Plan – An Overview

The business plan details how regionally we will deliver Jobcentre Plus National business priorities.

First and foremost we must achieve the PRA targets. This is Government’s measure to assess the value given of its investment in us. The PRAs ensure that:

  • Our efforts to find work for our customers focus on those most in need. The importance of this is exemplified in the JSA and IB claimant figures; Regional JSA unemployment was 74,662 in May. There are currently more than 280,000 people on IB;
  • The right benefit is paid and only to those who are eligible.
  • Our customers are treated in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Employers get the best service possible and use us as the recruitment partner of choice.
  • Benefits are paid correctly and on time. This gives our customers the platform from which they can enter the labour market.

In addition to actions to help achieve the PRA our plans cover:

  • How we will develop the skills of our people, giving them the tools to improve their performance and ability to meet new challenges;
  • The continuing improvement to our services through the roll out of new offices and introducing contact centres and CMS;
  • Our contribution to wider welfare reform through for example new tax credits, creating stability for people to remain in the labour market;
  • how we will deliver within our budget and headcount, ensuring value for money;
  • steps to improve our understanding of what employers want from new recruits so that we can ensure our customers have the right competencies for their jobs;
  • how we will work with internal and external partners to deliver our agenda cost effectively;
  • actions to ensure that our services and information are appropriate and accessible to people from a diverse community. This will involve external liaison and ensuring our workforce reflects the communities we serve;
  • our plans to market our brand and our services so more people and organisations engage with us;

Details of this years Business Plan will follow shortly.
