Eyemouth Jobcentre Plus was officially opened on Friday 26 August offering a new one-stop advice service on jobs and benefits. This marks the completion of the rollout of Jobcentre Plus in the Borders.

Local people can now get an integrated service at Eyemouth Jobcentre Plus, including access to tailor-made advice from specialist personal advisers on jobs and benefits entitlement for people of working age, under one roof.

Bill Wilson, District Manager for Jobcentre Plus in Edinburgh, Lothian & Borders said:

“The introduction of Jobcentre Plus will help people move away from receiving benefits into a job to give them the independence that comes from work. Through the services and facilities provided by the new Jobcentre Plus office, we can help people in all circumstances into jobs and assist employers to fill their vacancies with the right people.”

People who are looking for work can access up to half a million jobs by ringing Jobseeker Direct on 0845 60 60 234 (textphone 0845 6055 255) between 9am and 6pm weekdays and 9am to 1pm Saturdays. The emphasis is on tailoring services to individual customers, and using the latest facilities and technology to provide the help each customer needs.

Another improvement is a new phone service for customers to make claims to jobseeker’s allowance, incapacity benefit and income support. Customers can call 0845 600 4250 to start their claims process.
