Jobcentre Plus and Wychavon District Council have joined forces to offer Pershore residents a brand new initiative to enable them to access both services under one roof.

Jobcentre Plus has installed a Jobpoint in the Civic Centre in Pershore giving customers access to their full range of services while visiting the council offices.

Customers using the user friendly, touch screen Jobpoint will be able to tap into 400,000 local, national or international vacancies that are handled by Jobcentre Plus at any one time.

It is the first in the county to help Jobcentre Plus deliver their full range of services on partner premises. Additional support is also provided by Jobcentre Plus employees working directly on site.

A recent launch of the service saw representatives of Jobcentre Plus, Wychavon District Council and customers get together to celebrate the successful implementation of this innovative approach to partnership working.

Joan Skerry, Jobcentre Plus district manager for Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire, said:

“This is a very exciting time for Jobcentre Plus in Hereford & Worcester. The implementation of the new Jobcentre Plus service has enabled us to work with partners to extend the range of services available under one roof to all of our customers. This is just the start of what we hope will be a partnership benefiting many people within the Wychavon area.”

Full Jobcentre Plus services are provided by specialist staff at the Civic Centre from Monday to Thursday 9.00am to 5.00pm. The Jobpoint is available Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
