Jobcentre Plus search for West Midlands entertainers for jobs in the sun

Jobcentre Plus is inviting jobseekers that think they have the X factor to audition for a job in the sun.

Cosmo Entertainment, working closely with Jobcentre Plus, is scouring the West Midlands for budding performers to work as holiday entertainers at resorts in Majorca.

The Dutch based company is looking for people who are creative, have a talent for organising and enjoy working with people. Successful applicants will be fully trained and sent in teams to hotels in some of the sun-kissed Spanish island’s top resorts.

The jobs, which are a mix of organising and performing daytime and evening entertainment programmes, are to run from April to October this year.

Lorraine Morris, a European employment Service (EURES) adviser for Jobcentre Plus in the West Midlands, said the emphasis would be placed on enthusiasm, a liking for sport and an ability to work in a team. Successful applicants will be involved in organising children’s activities, as well as games, sporting events and evening shows and musicals.

She continued:

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the right people. Obviously, we’re keen to receive candidates with previous experience but welcome applications from anyone with an outgoing personality who likes working with people.”

Candidates must be 18 or over and successful applicants will be given three to four weeks’ full product training by experienced entertainers on their arrival in Majorca, before moving on to their hotel.

Applicants do not need to speak Spanish but knowledge of another European language would be useful. There are also many possibilities to progress within a strong international organisation.

People interested in applying for the vacancies can either phone 0121 452 5417 and ask for Hasna Choudhury or call into their local Jobcentre or Jobcentre Plus office and quote vacancy number OPB 5593. Interviews will be held in Birmingham on Wednesday 23rd February 2005.

Alternatively they can telephone Jobseeker Direct to access the thousands of jobs on offer locally, nationally and internationally on local rate telephone number 0845 60 60 234. The textphone number for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech difficulties is 0845 6055255. Lines are open from 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
