Cannock residents considering returning to work after ill health attended a busy open day organised by Jobcentre Plus this week. The successful open day was held at the Jobcentre in Beecroft Road, Cannock on 7th December with many members of the public attending for an informal chat over a coffee and a mince pie. Jobcentre Plus in Cannock arranged the open day to enable local residents to find out about the huge range of services available to help them back into work, including possible training opportunities. Sue Summers, manager of Cannock Jobcentre, said: “We were very pleased with the success of the event and will be holding a similar event in the New Year. Many people came along to obtain advice and guidance in finding and keeping a job when they have a health problem that affects the work that they can do. We also provided advice and support to people already in work who are concerned about losing their job for a reason associated with a health condition or disability.” Work Assist Job Brokers, who work in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to deliver New Deal for Disabled People, were also at the event to offer specialist help all under one roof. New Deal for Disabled People is a voluntary programme delivered through a network of Job Brokers who have been chosen by Jobcentre Plus because of their experience of working with people with health conditions or disabilities. Anyone who would like confidential advice can call Miri at Cannock Jobcentre on 01543 514277 without obligation or call in to the Jobcentre to see Miri without an appointment on the first Tuesday of every month between 10 am and 1 pm.
