John Humphrys helps to combat ageism
*
*

Cardiff born journalist John Humphrys, renowned for his combative interviewing skills on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, is offering his support to Age Positive Cymru - the government campaign that urges employers to end age discrimination in the workplace.

At 61 years of age, Humphrys believes that age should be immaterial to a persons advancement at work, and that skills and performance are the key to success.

“I feel as passionate about my job now as I did thirty years ago. I'd always intended to start taking it a bit easier when I hit fifty, but I didn't. Then sixty came and went and I'm still working flat out and enjoying every moment of it. I'm not sure that I'm any wiser than I was as a young man, but I do have a lot more experience under my belt. Employers who ignore the wealth of experience shared by older workers are making a big mistake. They should be grabbing it with both hands."
