*
*

North East employers are attending an event on Wednesday 24 November to learn about the business benefits of a mixed-age workforce. The event, called Age Works, is organised by Jobcentre Plus and the North East Employer Coalition. It will also cover the government’s proposed Age Discrimination legislation, and what employers need to do to get ready before it comes into force in 2006.

There will be experts on hand from Jobcentre Plus, Employer Direct, ACAS, Age Concern, Third Age Employment Network and Business.

Employers expected to attend include Arriva, ASDA, B&Q, Barclays Bank, GNER, IKEA, Marks & Spencer, Northumbria Police and Transco.

The event begins at 9.15am. There will be a break at 11.00am with an opportunity to meet the employers, speakers and experts taking part.

The event will be held at Durham County Cricket Club, County Ground, Riverside, Chester le Street DH3 3QR.
