Over 40 security and stewarding vacancies are on offer at a jobsfair to be hosted by Jobcentre Plus for the NEC Group. Birmingham and Solihull residents will have the chance to work at concerts for stars appearing at the arena, such as Anastacia, Bryan Adams, Will Young and Lionel Richie. Interested applicants are invited to attend a jobsfair being held at the Lucas Centre, Main Piazza, National Exhibition Centre at Bickenhill on Sunday 12th September 2004 from 12.00pm to 4.00pm. Dennis McDonnell, manager of the Jobcentre Plus office at the NEC, said: “We are looking for people to work as security guards, traffic officers, front-of-house stewards and concert stewards. This is an opportunity to join us in making the shows a great experience for visitors. We are particularly interested to hear from people who are willing to work 12 hour day or night shifts across the various venues. “No experience is necessary for these positions although applicants will need to be aged 18 or over (there is no upper-age limit), provide a full 10-year checkable work history (or back to school) and be available for a minimum of 16 hours per week. Training and uniform will be provided.” The NEC Group, which is working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to fill the posts, aims to provide first-class customer support to the many thousands of visitors who will attend these and other shows during the year. This year alone, Jobcentre Plus has helped the NEC Group recruit over 200 new staff. Anyone unable to attend the jobsfair can call Dennis at the NEC Jobcentre on 0121 782 4116 or 4117.
