Jobcentre Plus is gearing up to recruit 180 jobseekers for a new TK Maxx concept store located at the landmark Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham.

Jobcentre Plus is helping the company fill their vacancies for a variety of departments including men’s, women’s and home ware, for the brand new site. An open day will be held at Broad Street Jobcentre on Tuesday 7^th September 2004, between 9.30am to 4.00pm, for interested applicants to find out more information and apply for the vacancies.

Helen Cragg, employer services manager for Jobcentre Plus, said:

"This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to join a progressive and expanding company. TK Maxx decided to open a store in Birmingham city centre due to the huge success of the Bullring. They are looking for staff with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in retail, together with excellent customer service ability. Jobcentre Plus is working hard to recruit suitable people to fill these jobs and make sure the recruitment is successful."

She added:

"There are full-time and part-time permanent and temporary vacancies on offer. Previous fashion retail experience is preferred, however training is available. Applicants who require training support will be signposted to attend a four-day customised training programme to ensure they are work and interview ready. They will be guaranteed an interview with TK Maxx after completing training.”

Applicants need to be aged 16 or over and rates of pay vary depending on experience.

The personnel team from TK Maxx will be giving presentations to interested applicants. Jobcentre Plus staff will also be on hand at the open day on Tuesday 7^th September 2004 to give further information on the vacancies and have an informal chat with jobseekers, along with issuing application forms and conducting pre-selection tests.
