Pilot service to run until March 2005

In order to deliver the Government’s commitment to make job search and the ability to apply for a job accessible by interactive digital television by 2005-06, we have developed a system enabling jobseekers to access Jobcentre Plus vacancies via their interactive digital TV (iDTV).

Job Channel offers all NTL/Telewest/Sky subscribers a new way of accessing vacancies. If you do not normally use Jobcentre Plus services but subscribe to these television companies, you can now access vacancies from the comfort of your own home via your iDTV at a time that suits you.

A pilot service started in June 2004, running until March 2005. This pilot will give NTL/Telewest/Sky subscribers access to Jobcentre Plus vacancies within a 15 mile radius of Central London.

Go live will be staggered over a period of a few weeks, due to individual digital TV providers updating their service. The dates are planned as follows:

  • 21 June 2004 – Telewest service went live;
  • 2 August 2004 – NTL Service went live; and
  • 15 July 2004 – SKY service went live.

If you would like to make any comments or suggestions on Job Channel, then please use the feedback form.
