In order to deliver the government’s commitment to make job search and the ability to apply for a job accessible by interactive digital television by 2005-06, we have developed a system enabling jobseekers to access Jobcentre Plus vacancies via their interactive digital TV (iDTV). A pilot service started in June 2004, running until March 2005. This pilot will give all NTL/Telewest/Sky subscribers access to vacancies within a 15 mile radius of Central London. Go live will be staggered over a period of a few weeks, due to individual digital TV providers updating their service. The dates are planned as follows:
- 21 June 2004 – Telewest service went live;
- 2 August 2004 – NTL Service will go live; and
- 15 July 2004 – SKY service went live.
Job Channel means that we are broadening the potential audience who will be able to access your vacancies placed with Jobcentre Plus without any further effort on your part. Jobseekers who may not normally use Jobcentre Plus services will be able to look at your vacancies in the comfort of their own home at a time that suits them. This is a new and exciting media for reaching your customers and we hope that a successful pilot in London will lead us to broaden this service to other parts of the country. If you would like to make any comments or suggestions on Job Channel, then please use the feedback form.
