Stourbridge Jobcentre is hosting an open evening on behalf of the Automobile Association (AA) to recruit staff for their state of the art customer contact and deployment centre at Birchley Island in Oldbury.

Interested applicants are asked to call into the Lower High Street based Jobcentre next Monday (26th July 2004) between 5.00pm to 8.30pm.

Pat Riley, senior human resources manager for the AA, said:

“We have worked with the Jobcentre on numerous projects, and each and every time we use them we have an unprecedented success. I personally measure success in two ways – the efficiency and calibre of staff in the Jobcentre and the calibre of staff that are recruited into the workplace. I’m pleased to say I continually receive good service and excellent staff who enjoy working in the hustle and bustle of a busy modern working environment.”

Alison Fleming, vacancy services manager at Stourbridge Jobcentre, said:

“The duties involve answering telephone calls from motorists and liaising with other service departments to deploy roadside assistance. Applicants need to have excellent communication and keyboard skills and be able to deliver a high level of customer focused service. These skills will be tested at the open evening through interviews, keyboard assessments and telephone scenarios role-play.”

The vacancies are full time, initially on a temporary basis, and involve working shifts, six days on and three days off which includes weekends and bank holidays. Call handling experience is strongly preferred, as is knowledge of Windows based software. The AA offer full training in company procedure, along with competitive rates of pay for the local area with a starting salary of £12,241 plus a flexibility allowance of £2081 as well as staff benefits.

Alison added:

“Jobcentre Plus advisers will be on hand at the open evenings to discuss the range of help and assistance available when starting work, such as help towards the costs of childcare and advice on in work benefits. Representatives from the AA will also be at the events to issue application forms, perform screening checks and advise applicants on their suitability for the posts.”

For further details about the AA open evening interested applicants can call Alison at Stourbridge Jobcentre on telephone number 01384 554723. Alternatively they can call into the open evening at Stourbridge Jobcentre and no appointment is necessary or search for them on this site.
