Sports Events, Wales

Age Positive Week kicks off at Leckwith Stadium with a 5-a-side match between mixed-age teams of Welsh veteran players (Neville Southall, Derek Brazil, Cohen Griffiths) and members of the Football Association of Wales Under 19's squad – working together for a broader range of skills and experience!. Plus a special appearance from the oldest business man in Wales, aged 92.

Guardian Newspaper Supplement

A special supplement age diversity published in The Guardian, in association with Age Positive. Includes an interview with Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Pensions, who spearheads the Age Positive campaign. The supplement will cover issues of age discrimination and age diversity, and feature employer and employee case studies.

Tuesday 22 June
Age Positive Awards Winners Ceremony at Lancaster House, London

Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Pensions, will be presenting awards to the winners of the Age Positive Awards 2004, which were recently run across newspapers throughout Scotland, England and Wales. At this lunchtime ceremony, individuals and employers will be awarded trophies for successfully dispelling ageist myths and promoting age diversity. The awards ceremony will be hosted by televison personality Lorraine Kelly.

Tuesday 22 June
100 Employer Champion Event, at Number 11 Downing Street, London

A reception to celebrate the goodwill and successes of Age Positive Employer Champions - companies who support Age Positive and share their good practice. Hosted by Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Pensions. The 100th Employer Champion will be announced at the event.

Wednesday 23 June
Launch of the Recruitment Excellence Awards in association with Recruiter Magazine

The Age Positive campaign is challenging recruitment consultancies to enter the Recruitment Excellence awards 2004. the Awards identify recruiters and companies who are championing candidates of all ages and educating their clients about the benefits of age diversity. Recruiter magazine will feature an interview with Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Pensions.

Wednesday 23 – Thursday 24 June
CIPD Recruitment and Retention Conference at Olympia, London

Age Positive will be exhibiting at the conference and distributing Age Positive packs and entry forms for the Age Positive Recruitment Excellence Awards.

Friday 25 June
Croydon visit

Getting on board for age diversity ! Malcolm Wicks, Minister of State for Pensions will be meeting Age Positive Employer Champions at Croydon Tram Depot.
