The optical lens company, Mersona Ltd on Coombs Road in Halesowen, who manufacture spectacles, is holding an open evening on Thursday 1st April 2004 from 6pm until 8pm. The company is currently working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus to recruit production operatives for their twilight shift.

Melanie Case, business development manager at Halesowen Jobcentre, said:

"This is an opportunity for people who have commitments during the day to get back into work. The hours are from 5pm until 10pm Monday to Friday, so they would ideally suit people who have got childcare obligations or other daytime responsibilities. The factory has a very clean working environment and people can look around during the open evening and find out more about the jobs."

She added:

"Mersona is willing to recruit people with no experience as full training will be given. This is also an opportunity for people to improve any skills they already have."

Jobcentre Plus advisers will also be on hand at the open evening to discuss the range of help and assistance available when starting work, such as help towards the costs of childcare and advice on in work benefits.
