Opportunities to work with Donald Duck

Jobcentre Plus is offering French-speaking people from the UK the opportunity to work with Donald Duck and Dumbo, as hundreds of jobs at Disneyland Paris go on offer through their national network of offices today.

Temporary and permanent vacancies for reception work – including front desk, luggage service and parking, as well jobs working in fast food outlets and other more traditional catering positions in kitchens, bars and dining rooms. Contracts start in March 2004, with short-term posts lasting a minimum of three months between March and October.

A spokesperson for Jobcentre Plus said,

"Jobcentre Plus has worked closely with Disneyland Paris for several years to assist them to recruit the staff they need to deal with over 13 million visitors to their theme park every year.

Successful applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old and will benefit from subsidised accommodation, with meals provided on duty and will work for 35 hours a week, although overtime is available. It is essential that they have a good knowledge of conversational French, and this will be tested at their interview.”

Interviews are being held in London on Monday 22nd March, Manchester on Tuesday 23rd March and Edinburgh on 25th March 2004. Jobcentre Plus may be able to assist unemployed jobseekers with the cost of travelling to the interview through the Travel to Interview scheme. Further details can be obtained from a local Jobcentre or Jobcentre Plus office.

The gross monthly salary starts from 1103.39 euros and travel costs between home and work are reimbursed up to a limit. The Disneyland Paris Personnel Department will arrange residential permits for anyone working there for over 3 months.

Disneyland Paris is located 32 kilometres east of Paris at Marne la Valle. The resort includes 2 theme parks, Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios – opened since March 16 2002, 7 hotels, 2 convention centres, 2 golf courses, an entertainment centre, 61 restaurants, 54 boutiques and 42 attractions.

They added,
