Job hunters in Chester-le-Street are being encouraged to banish the winter blues with an offer of help to find work by the town’s Action Team for Jobs. The Action Team will be setting out its job stall next to the Chester-le-Street’s market square, this Friday, 13th February, between 9.30 am and 3.30pm. And to help people banish those winter blues, staff will be dressing up in summer gear, sporting Hawaii shirts, shorts and sunglasses. Christine Archer, Chester-le-Street Action Team for Jobs Marketing Manager said: “The Action Team advisors are going to be out and about near Chester-le-Street market square to give advice and support for local people to find work. We’ll also be able to talk to people about the extra help we can give to help them get back into work. “Whether it’s a bike or a bus pass to get there, or support until they get their first wage packet, there’s not much we can’t fund to break down the barriers that have stopped them working.” The Action Team will have access to thousands of jobs from its jobs database and will be able to carry out in-work benefits assessments to show people how much better off they can be by working. A free winter survival kit, comprising a woolly hat, ice scraper and other items will be given out to people on the day.
