Jobcentre Plus in Walsall is inviting local lone parents and their children to a day of fun and information during half term. The special New Deal for Lone Parents event will take place on Wednesday 16th February at the Blakenall Community Association, Blakenall, Walsall, between 10am and 3pm. Lone parents will be able to find out about a huge range of services available to help them back into work or find suitable training opportunities. Whilst the parents will benefit from a range of treatments, healthy eating advice and fitness, children will be entertained by face painters and children’s entertainers. Jobcentre Plus advisers will be on hand to offer support and guidance to help customers overcome issues like childcare responsibilities, housing difficulties, health conditions, or disabilities before returning to work. Carol Gibbs, event organiser and New Deal for Lone Parents manager, said: “All lone parents who attend the event will be provided with a goody bag filled with information and products kindly donated by local employers. On the day people can just call in for a look around, or they can have a one to one discussion with a representative of their choice.” Lone parents interested in finding out more about the day, as well as being entered into a free prize draw, should contact their local Jobcentre or call Carol Gibbs on 01922 853613.
