A new Jobcentre Plus office was launched in Ely today, (Tuesday 26th) the first in Cambridgeshire, giving local people access to this innovative service for the first time.

Ely Jobcentre has helped over 487 local people back into employment in the last year, and is the first Jobcentre Plus office in Cambridgeshire. The opening marked an important milestone, not just for Ely, but also nationally as the latest phase in a rollout of Jobcentre Plus offices across the country.

Ron Platt, District Manager for Cambridgeshire Jobcentre Plus, said:

"I am sure customers in Ely will be impressed with the new office and the facilities available to them. Jobcentre Plus is not just about a new office. It's about helping people move away from welfare and into a job, giving them the independence that comes from work."

"We will be offering a personal advisory service to all unemployed customers and will work with them on an individual basis to help them back into work".
