A recruitment information evening is being held in Blairgowrie to begin filling 120 jobs at the town’s new Tesco store. The event will be held at Blairgowrie Jobcentre Plus, 11-13 Perth Street, on Thursday 1 September from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. The information evening is being held by Jobcentre Plus to help people prepare for interviews for the jobs, which are in most areas of the supermarket’s operations and cover various working hours and shifts. “This is a huge recruitment event for the area and we’re hoping as many people as possible can come along,” says Karen Donaldson, business manager of Blairgowrie Jobcentre Plus. “Customers who are claiming benefits, such as incapacity benefit, income support and disability allowance, are very welcome to attend. If someone hasn’t worked for some time they may be unsure about applying. I would encourage them to come along and find out more about the jobs as previous experience is not always required.” Jobcentre Plus advisers will be on hand to talk about the types of jobs on offer, to give advice to people on filling in application forms and on interviews. They can also calculate how much better off someone can be in work. Careers Scotland staff will also be on hand to help people with CVs. “We’ll also be able to make appointments for the recruitment days that Tesco has planned for interviews,” adds Judith Sanderson, employment engagement adviser with Jobcentre Plus. “The store’s due to open on 5 December and Tesco will provide job training before the opening, so it’s likely that jobs will begin around mid-November.” Anyone unable to attend the information evening and who would like to know more can call into Blairgowrie Jobcentre Plus or call them on 01250 733200. To find out about all current jobs available customers can contact Jobseeker Direct on 0845 60 60 234.
