Jobcentre Plus advisers will be a big attraction at the Wheeler Road playing field in Ludlow later this month as they join forces with Rockspring Community Centre to host a free fun day for children.

Parents wanting advice on returning to work or finding a suitable training opportunity can chat to specialist advisers on Thursday 11th August between 10am and 3pm at the Wheeler Road playing field while their children are kept occupied by fun and games including face painting, story telling, hook a duck, parachute games and a World War 2 marquee.

Kairen Francis, childcare partnership manager for Jobcentre Plus, said:

“Whether looking for work or just thinking about it, parents should come along and see what’s on offer. Jobcentre Plus will be offering a wide range of support and advice on issues like how to apply for jobs, guidance on training, help with childcare providers and assistance with travel and childcare costs. Parents will also be able to meet representatives from Sure Start, Rockspring Community Centre, local training providers and the local council.

“One visit to the team will help them find out about a range of local services. We hope this fun day will not only prove helpful to parents in their search for work but also give the children something to do while they wait for mum or dad. There are lots of activities on offer to keep them occupied so bring a picnic along and come and join in the fun.”

Jobcentre Plus advisers will also be able to give information about the £500 Sure Start maternity grant available for newborn children of parents receiving certain benefits.
