Chapel Court Jobcentre is working in partnership with City of Wolverhampton College to help West Midlands Police recruit over 300 police community support officers (PCSOs) over the next 12 months. Chapel Court Jobcentre in Queen Street is hosting an awareness session for the PCSO vacancies on Monday 8 May. Interested applicants are requested to ring 01902 435335 to book a place. An experienced PCSO will be available on the day to discuss the duties involved in more detail and give first-hand experience of the job and what is involves. Interested applicants will need to be available for a full information day on Saturday 13 May at Wolverhampton College. Hilary Clews, from Jobcentre Plus, said: “Community support officers work within communities to enhance police presence and give reassurance leading to a reduction in crime. High visibility foot patrols enable a PCSO to act as the eyes and ears of the community, tackle anti-social behaviour, gather intelligence and deal with quality of life issues. “Suitable applicants must enjoy working with people, like the outdoor life and want to make a difference to their local community. The Police are keen to actively recruit people who reflect the community that they will be working in.”
PCSOs work a variety of shifts from 7am - 3am including weekends, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The starting salary is £16,776 plus a shift allowance and weekend working allowance and a uniform is provided. For further information prior to the information and awareness session or to book a place, people can ring the vacancy services team on telephone number 01902 435355.
