Hereford Jobcentre Plus is working with West Mercia Constabulary to help them recruit community support officers (CSOs) to work throughout Herefordshire. The Bath Street Jobcentre Plus office in the town centre is hosting an open day for people interested in the vacancies on Tuesday 28th February from 10am to 4pm. Gareth Niblett, vacancy services manager at Hereford Jobcentre Plus, said: "Community support officers work within communities to enhance police presence and give reassurance leading to a reduction in crime. High visibility foot patrols enable a CSO to act as the eyes and ears of the community, tackle anti-social behaviour, gather intelligence and deal with quality of life issues. "Suitable applicants must enjoy working with people, like the outdoor life and want to make a difference to their local community." CSOs work a variety of shifts from 8am-10pm including weekends, ensuring comprehensive coverage. The starting salary is £14,517 plus a shift allowance and weekend working allowance and a uniform is provided. People interested in the vacancies can call into the open day and no appointment is required. An experienced CSO will be avaiable at the open day to discuss the duties involved in more detail and give first-hand experience of the job and what is involves. For further information prior to the event, ring Gareth on telephone number 01432 426283 or visit the West Mercia Constabulary website.
