Employment on TrialNormally if you leave a job voluntarily, without good cause, you lose entitlement to benefit. However, Employment on Trial allows you to leave a job and make a claim to Jobseekers Allowance without the reason for leaving affecting your entitlement to benefit. You must have been in the job for at least 4 weeks and 1 day, must have left before you complete 13 weeks and must have worked for more than 16 hours in each complete week. If you are dismissed or leave the job because of misconduct you might still lose benefit. If you have not worked or been in education for at least 13 weeks before the day that you start work Employment on Trial gives you the confidence to start a new job, even if you are not sure it will work out.
