Job Outcome Target - helping people into work

Target: 11,200,000 job outcome points.

What is the target?

Performance is measured by matching Jobcentre Plus customer records with information on people starting work from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs*. This means job starts are captured both for individuals who are referred to a job by a Jobcentre Adviser, and for those who find work through one of our electronic Job Points or another self-service channel such as the internet. Job Outcome Target recognises that customers now have a greater choice in how they find work, whether this is through vacancies notified to Jobcentre Plus or not. We encourage customers who are able to use self-help channels to do so. This helps us to concentrate our resources on our priority customers, such as lone parents and people with a health condition or disability.

How does it work?

It is based on a points system. Every time we help someone into a job, we earn points towards our Job Outcome Target. The higher the priority of the customer, the more points are achieved.

For example:

• helping an unemployed lone parent into work - 12 points
• helping an employed person change jobs - 1 point

A new 'Child Points Premium' has been introduced to support the DWP's number one priority to reduce child poverty. This reflects the important contribution that Jobcentre Plus makes in helping parents move into work.
