European Employment Services (EURES)

EURES is the network linking the public employment services in Europe. Its role is to help people move freely and take up work in other member states of the European Economic Area (EEA). It can also help you to recruit workers from other EEA countries.

The services provided by the EURES network are supported by the European Commission and delivered through the public employment services in each EEA member state. For example, we offer you local, national and international vacancy distribution as part of our standard vacancy taking service.

Display your vacancy In Jobcentres across Europe

You can display your vacancy in Jobcentres and on public employment service national databases across Europe through EURES. There is no charge for this service. To view the EURES jobs database where your vacancy will be displayed, please visit the EURES website.

Putting your vacancy on EURES

To send a vacancy to EURES, telephone Employer Direct on 0845 601 2001 or use our Employer Direct online service. The vacancy will display immediately on this website and on the EURES website http://europa.eu.int/eures/home.jsp?lang=en. You will be able to search for your vacancy using the key word search or alternatively by search under the occupational categories listed.

If you are already advertising your vacancy with Jobcentre Plus and you wish it to be shown on the EURES site, call Employer Direct and simply ask for the vacancy to be sent to EURES.

How EURES might be helpful to you

EURES aims to help people look for and take up work within the European Union, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland by encouraging job mobility. As members of the EURES network, we provide services to help you recruit from elsewhere in Europe, should you be unable to find the right people for your jobs locally or nationally.

You can display your vacancy on EURES and on databases in other Member States.

You can use EURES CV search to find highly motivated European candidates.

And if you already use our Account Management service, we may be able to help you recruit direct from other European countries. Our Account Manager network can put you in touch with a EURES adviser, to see if your skills shortages can be matched with labour surpluses elsewhere in Europe.

EURES advisers

EURES has a network of over 700 advisers who specialise in international recruitment and job mobility issues. There is at least one EURES adviser in each region of the EEA. They can offer you:

  • Advice and guidance on overseas recruitment
  • Practical recruitment arrangements (ie pre-selection and interview facilities)
  • Vacancy handling and promotion abroad

EURES CV Search

EURES CV Search is a CV database for people looking for work within the European Union, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. You can use the service to find suitable candidates for your jobs. There are tens of thousands of registered jobseekers using the database.

Once registered, you will be emailed a secure password. You can then search the full database of European CVs online.

There is no charge for using EURES CV Search. It is a quick and efficient way to find highly motivated European job seekers who match your job profile.

You can gain access to potential candidates from the UK and across Europe.

You can search for people by occupation, experience, skills, education and languages.

And once you’ve found the best candidates, you can contact them direct.

For more information on how to register and search for CVs, please enter EURES CV Search here.

Enlargement of the European Union

On 1 May, 2004, 10 countries joined the EU, giving you an even wider choice of potential applicants for your jobs. The new Member States are Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Cyprus and Malta. Citizens from these countries will have the same entitlement to take up work in the UK as all other EU Member States nationals.
