Employment and Support Allowance

Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) was introduced on 27 October 2008, and replaced Incapacity Benefit and Income Support, paid because of an illness or disability, for new customers only. It has been designed to help you achieve your full potential and help you to gain independence from benefits. Find out more about Employment and Support allowance.

Disability Living Allowance

If you are aged under 65 and need help looking after yourself or getting around find out more about Disability Living Allowance.

Tax Credits

For your household to be eligible for tax credits, you and /or your partner must be aged 16 or over and usually live in the UK. You may still qualify if you do not live in the UK. Find out more about Tax Credits (this will take you to the HM Revenue & Customs website).

Incapacity Benefit

If you were not working when you became sick or were self-employed or were sick for more than 28 weeks,

Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit

Severe Disablement Allowance

Since April 2001 it has not been possible to make a new claim for Severe Disablement Allowance (SDA). If you were getting SDA in April 2001 you will normally continue to receive it. Find out more about Severe Disablement Allowance.
