A guide for disabled people, those with health conditions and carersIs this information for you? This information will be relevant to you if you:
- have a disability
- have a health condition
- have been seriously injured, or
- are caring for someone.
It explains the support that’s available to you if you’re:
- unable to work
- looking for work, or
- not looking for work at the moment, but may in the future.
Personal advisers help most of the disabled people, people with health conditions and carers who are looking for work through Jobcentre Plus. They can provide details of suitable vacancies and explain more about the range of programmes available to help you. If you need extra support, specialist advisers can help you plan the best way for you to find work. If you’re already employed, specialist advisers can discuss your current employment situation with you. If you’re concerned about losing your job for a reason associated with your disability or health condition, our Disability Employment Advisers can give you and your employer advice, and explore practical ways to help you keep your job. Go to the section ‘Helping you into work if you have a disability or health condition or you are a carer'. If you’re unable to work, we can tell you about the financial and practical support you may be able to get, and refer you to appropriate services offered by other organisations. Go to ‘Financial and practical support if you have a disability or health condition', or ‘Financial and practical support if you’re a carer’.
